Crochet Row Counter App for iPhone
Rowpin is a row counter for crochet and knitting that reads your own pattern. It finds the rows, lights up the one you are on as you tap +, and keeps your place on the Lock Screen.

Your pattern read for you, the round you are on, and your place on the Lock Screen.
Stop recounting rows
A pattern on your phone does not know where you are. You put the hook down, the screen locks, and when you come back you are scrolling and counting stitches to find your row again. Rowpin keeps your place on the pattern itself, so you pick up where you stopped.
How to keep your place in a pattern
- Step 1
Open your pattern: a PDF, a photo, scanned pages or a web page.
- Step 2
Rowpin finds the numbered rows and rounds and lights up row 1.
- Step 3
Tap + after each row. Your place stays on the pattern and on the Lock Screen.
What you get
- Your own pattern, not a blank counter
The row you are on is highlighted on your pattern, so you never have to find your line again.
- Stitch counts and grouped rows
When the pattern gives a stitch count, Rowpin shows it. A line like "Rnds 8 to 16" counts through one round at a time and says how many are left, and repeats count with your rows, like "Repeat 3, row 2 of 4".
- Count from the Lock Screen
Your project, row and stitch count stay on the Lock Screen with + and −, and a Home Screen widget has a + too, so you can count without unlocking your phone.
- Abbreviations explained
On the row you are working, abbreviations are underlined: tap one, or tap Explain for the whole row, to see what they mean, from your pattern's own key first, in US or UK terms.
- Tools and beginner projects
A stitch dictionary, a ruler, and hook, needle, yarn weight and blanket size charts, plus four beginner projects written for Rowpin.

Common questions
- What patterns does it read?
Written patterns, as a PDF, a photo, scanned pages or a web page. Rowpin finds numbered rows and rounds like "Row 12", "Rows 8-15" or "Rnd 14". A pattern that is only a symbol chart has no written rows for it to find.
- Does it work for knitting too?
Yes. It counts rows for knitting the same way, and says Round instead of Row for patterns worked in rounds.
- Is my pattern uploaded anywhere?
Not to us. Rowpin reads your pattern on your device, with no AI, and keeps it there. If iCloud is on, your projects also sync to your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot read. There is no account to create.
- How much does it cost?
Rowpin needs Rowpin Plus, a subscription with a 7-day free trial: $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US, set in your local currency elsewhere. You can cancel any time in your Apple Account settings.
- Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, on iOS 17 or later.
- Is it in the EU?
Not yet. Join the list on the free row counter page to hear when it is.
